Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band hit the stage at the House Of Blues opening with an instrumental, and the crowd was excited to see this guitar legend. Played next was "Dirty Girl", the first song off his latest cd DO YOU GET THE BLUES? An understatement at best - those in attendance definitely got their share of the blues.
New songs like "Robbin' Me Blind" and "Let Me In", both co-written by with Greg Sain, went over big with the very knowledgable audience. "Power Of Love", also on the new CD and sung by Lou Ann Barton, was next. How was Vaughan going to pull this off? Well, to the crowd's surprise, he brought out Lou Ann. After rendering that song she and Jimmie went into "Sugar Coated Love" from Lou Ann's own READ MY LIPS cd. She then sang "In The Middle Of The Night" also off Jimmie's latest CD. The crowd cheered as she stayed onstage to sing backup for the rest of the show, songs including "Out Of The Shadows" and a duet on "I Like It Like That".
The show's final number was "Boom-Bapa-Boom" from Jimmies's STRANGE PLEASURE cd. The crowd went crazy and a minute later Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band returned to the stage. First encore was an instrumental, followed by "Sure Look Good To Me". Lou Ann Barton again sang lead on "Now You Want To Leave". The audience, still up for more, were then treated to the last song, "D/FW" From the FAMILY STYLE - the cd Stevie Ray and Jimmie made together. This evening of great blues left all with one thought - though Stevie is gone, the Vaughan name lives and still thrives.
