The kid does it again! J.D. Simo and Dirty Pool hit the ground running at the Railhead in May. This band's style of hard rockin' blues keeps many coming back for more. Their cover songs are top choices. From the set-starter "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker, to Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile" and "Purple Haze" and Buddy Miles' "Them Changes" - few could render them better.
Originals such as "Can You Hear The Wind Howl?" from their first CD, and the newly penned "Calm Before The Storm" showed that Simo is maturing as a song writer.
Rhythm boys T-Bone Caradonna on bass, and Thomas "Freight Train" Walker on drums, are clearly up to the Simo challenge. These guys need to be heard more, and hopefully it will happen with their next release.
J.D. Simo's showmanship and ability are every bit as good as musicians twice his age. Whether playing behing his back or running around the room, J.D. always conveys the joy he has for preforming. And this joy is passed on to those in the audience. Thanks to KOMP and the Railhead for bringing the talented trio back to Boulder Station.
